Introducing the Tourism New Zealand and WeChat Pay Golden Week campaign.
Tourism New Zealand is excited to announce a joint campaign with WeChat Pay, designed to support New Zealand tourism businesses to reach and service more of the Chinese market. The opportunity to participate in this campaign is exclusive to Qualmark members.
Golden Week 2023 Campaign
WeChat Pay is a payment feature integrated into the WeChat app, and is one of the leading mobile payment and digital wallet services in China.
Prior to COVID-19, China was New Zealand’s second largest market. Chinese visitors are high-quality, often travelling in off peak seasons, engaging in a range of activities and cultural experiences, and have contributed over $1.7 billion to New Zealand’s economy.
During the all-important Golden Week travel period in October, the campaign will launch a range of initiatives aimed at encouraging Chinese visitors to participate in more tourism activities, visit more regions and therefore increase spend during their New Zealand holiday.
The campaign will be hosted on Tourism New Zealand and WeChat’s Pay mini programme within the WeChat Pay app, where WeChat Pay users go to find businesses to shop at and secure special offers.
Participants in the campaign will receive:
1. Access to the preferential exchange rate (approximately a 2% discount) offer and other incentives funded by Wechat Pay and Tourism New Zealand for the campaign period.
2. Complimentary set-up of their own marketing page within Gift Pack. This will enable WeChat Pay users to learn about your business and how best to contact, book or purchase.
3. Benefit from significant advertising promoting the campaign, directing WeChat Pay users to Gift Pack to redeem special offers during their trip.
4. Ability to create special offers for WeChat Pay users and encourage them to visit your business.
5. One-to-one advice and set-up service to support Qualmark members throughout the set-up of the campaign.
Tourism New Zealand and Qualmark will select a range of operators to participate in the campaign. The selection process will involve assessing various factors such as the businesses' alignment with the campaign's objectives, their track record of quality and service, and their capacity to deliver exceptional experiences to Chinese visitors.
